Part of a series of sculptures created from pure copper wire whilst living in Shanghai as an artist in residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. The speed, consumerism and futurism of this city has resulted in the creation of a body of work which has come to be from a kind of cultivated presentness with material, time and environment. As an artist from the English countryside in Shanghai, this series of sculptures show clearly a personal need for nature, slowness and space.
I have worked spontaneously to create this series of sculpted poems that can be understood in terms of going for a walk without a destination in mind. They are three dimensional, continuous line drawings and I have chosen to use relatable and understood techniques and materials to create these works of Fine Art.
