The jaws that snatch, the wings that catch draws on recollections of human, animal and bird form to articulate a memory of looming death using hard and unyielding materials to project a predatory figure ready to clamp the unwary in its jaws. As with many of my pieces, I consciously leave the artifice of what I make exposed and deliberately play on the tension between the presence the piece projects and its inherent lack of strength or real substance to illustrate its ultimate hollowness.
