The Fossil
And the Earth opens up
To reveal three hands
With stone wrapped around them
But who understands?
Hard to the touch
I grabbed at it
To realize that something
Was just amiss
The moment I noticed that something was wrong
The earth moved again
And I was gone.
The fossilized hands. They may be reaching for each other in want of safety or a giant is grabbing an only half calcified hand trying to break out of the stupor while a third has given up. The fossil paints a dark future and the end of humanity in the light of either hope and relationship or anger, sorrow and fear. All depending on the mirroring of emotions from the viewer .
But it also shows that nature and life itself keeps on living despite of our wrongdoings. The flowers still bloom under the protection of the stones and inside of it.
