Teddy Bears EXtinction is a series of installations that explore ideas of climate change through the meeting of the everyday with wilderness. The bear forms are part cartoon and yet based on elements of polar bears, after a residency in Svalbard. These bears inhale, blow up with air every 15 minutes, and then exhale for 15 minutes. The effect of the amazing hands/claws in the air followed by the very sad deflated expressions confuses our anthropomorphising of wilderness as our inadequate understanding of the world around us.
