The MINI TANGLED series is composed from a lot of little sculptures. Everytime I need to put in order my thoughts I do one. Only doing this action of coiling from the start to the finishing moment I feel better. I need do this ripetitive action of coil, to reflect about my fears. The fear of death, of loneliness, the fear to loose something or someone, the fear to not to be enough. My connection with the feminine part of me, my ancestors and some hidden part of my character.
These little tangled pieces can be put alone or together, all together they give me again some insicurity. Is a diary without words.
TECHNIQUE: the coiling technique is spread around the world, in the most ancient cultures. We can find it in Africa, South East Asia, Central America. Its beauty is that one use only hands for create every piece and it is based on two opposite forces for create the work. Is a very long time spending process that need balance, patience. I learned this from an indonesian artisan and it became one of my favorite techniques. I like to use it for the little sculptures and decontextualize this artisanal technique.
