This work has to do with my grandfather’s memory loss as a result of his dementia. This sculpture is made up of 25 empty photographic slide holders which once housed his photographic slide collection. On the sides of the slide holders remains evidence of a meticulous labelling system. These modernist, architectural forms, which were ubiquitous and banal to previous generations, have abstracted after several decades of obsolescence - their function is no longer immediately apparent. They remain in-order, and invite the viewer to explore the descriptions and imagine the decades long narrative detached from its referent.
