Sisyphus/Hulk is born from a reflection on the absurdity of our contemporary situation, where we are suffocating under the tons of waste that we are constantly producing.
Like a modern-day Sisyphus, Hulk is drawn to an absurd and endless work. Here, not only does the mountain continue to rise under the pressure of the infernal production of the consumer society, but the rock is replaced by the first atomic bomb designed as part of the Manhattan Project, (the first test, dubbed the code-named "trinity", takes place in the desert of New Mexico on July 16, 1945, and officially marks the entrance of the world into the atomic era).
We know that the rock of Sisyphus falls as soon as it reaches the summit, replacing it with an atomic bomb transforms our future prospects in a worrying way. In the background we see Manhattan standing out against atomic explosion.
