Through embroidery and weaving, Sasha seeks to reconnect ancestral feminine power with the one of today. It is a celebration of femininity that manifests its place in history and society.
Three flowers of the bottom are reproduced in embroidery from my grandmother’s shirt. In Ukraine, traditionally embroidery was an activity strictly reserved for women. Depending on what one embroiders, one would give a magical power to the clothes: flowers, for example, give energy and vitality to the person. Thanks to this practice, women possessed a superior and unique power.
The top three flowers were found on feminist blogs today.
Embroidery napkins then show the continuity of the powers attributed to the feminine.
