Concept
This polyptych is meant to be an experimental demonstration which inherits and develops the concept of Spazialismo by Lucio FONTANA.
This 2.5-Dimensional artwork can be interpreted both as a 3-Dimensional painting that is continuously transformed by light and shadow and also as a 2-Dimensional architecture structured by the tension of the surface of an object.
Covered by a single piece of leather, the forks, as symbols of everyday objects, are repetitively arranged on the canvas.
The undulating surface produced by light, shadow and the outlines of the forks emerging on the leather generates an abstract pattern that changes its shape infinitely, depending on the position of the light source and the viewer's viewpoint.
This indefinite pattern that is unseen in everyday life acts on the viewers as a singular surface of perception that is disconnected from the daily continuous spatial configuration, revealing the hidden form of reality to the viewers.
