The work
examines the issue of the discrepancy between the inner world of a person and
his external appearance, especially under the influence of society. Many people
strive to conform to a particular image in the eyes of other people, trying to
be who they are not and while hiding their true qualities and strengths. As a
result, it turns out that the real human nature is hidden behind a layer of
external attributes and moves further and further backward, which leads to the
loss of oneself.
Working on
the portrait, I try to reveal these real traits of a person's character, the
most inherent emotions and experiences. Further, I try to express all these
details through volumetric shapes, lines and compositions, collecting a
"skeleton" from plastic waste, and then, like skin, stretch the
canvas over these volumes, giving it a real skin color and some external
physical details of his real face.
Thus, it
turns out not just an image of a person, but his new embodiment, which conveys
his true essence. In this case, it is the embodiment of my own.
