The project’s mission is to bring the material under control of the virtual with the help of traditional artistic practices. Objects carry several meanings at once, they seem to be born in virtual space by a neural network that was given too little input and instead of accuratelyreproducing the object according to its description, it produces something completely different, unpredictable in meaning and form.Objects belong to several realities at once, sometimes have mutually exclusive qualities (aggressiveness/fragility) and offer the viewer a material metaphor for the concept of “post-truth”.
Continuing the theme of the dichotomy of the virtuality of the real and the reality of the virtual, the author in the work “remain calm” creates the image of a 3d model, which has found a physical embodiment. The fluid structure refers to the sometimes erroneous results in the choice of textures when working with neural networks. The action of the figure, its posture, its gender are also random in appearance. The author deliberately balances between the aesthetics of a mannequin and academic sculpture, becoming like artificial intelligence, which sometimes does not see the differences between these concepts.Imitating the aesthetics of 3D printing and graphic editors, the author proposes to take a critical look at the imaginary uniqueness of works created using modern technologies.
