Friuli Venezi Giulia, the region where the artist is based, during the 70's and 80's of the XX century was the most militarised region in Europe. It was the last western bulwark against the former Yugoslavia and the Soviet bloc. Those who live in territories like this know militarism very well and see its failure every day of their lives, everywhere. Not to mention what the militarist policy has brought to these territories in the past on an economic, social and environmental level, now the failure takes the form of thousands of unusable hectares, pollution, disrupted territories, prohibitions, abandonment and degradation. An example in imperishable memory of a war lost by all from the start. Hundreds of crumbling skeletons that make up the everyday landscape, so everyday become normal, invisible. Is on this normality, on these symbolic concrete systems, erected and abandoned ion the space of a few decades, that the everyday life of those who live in these territory rests. A tragic normality that makes militarism and its effects a habit to live passively. Symbolic systems that have taken on the involuntary character of relics that, by affecting the environment and the landscape, count for the identity of ours territories as much as their traditions or their history.
