This installation out of paper, light and under water sound - hanging from the ceiling - is a reminiscence on to deep sea creatures. This are organisms living below the photic zone in the deep dark ocean. They must survive in extremely harsh conditions and found their own way of bringing light in to the dark. These creatures use bioluminescence to light their way, attract prey, confuse enemies, or seduce a mate. Although deeply fascinated by this sometimes gigantic, sometimes ultra-small organisms, they are usually not part of our thoughts and actions. But they play a key role to protect our climate and ecosystems by storing a large part of the CO2 and slowing down the warming of surface water and land.
The sculpture is a request to fall in love with this unusual creatures, usually invisible to most of us. And a request to protect their biodiversity.
