“Portrait of a woman” (14-50) by E.Sokolova
The work shows the whole life of every woman.
A tampon is a symbol of biological mathematics that changes the optics of our perception. One of 500 life spans. One universe in which we experience joy, despair, sadness, hope and loss. The oldest and most accurate biological coordinate system. Usually goes unnoticed, but more important than days and weeks.
A triptych of three works raises the question of free will, personality and predestination.
The portrait of one woman is the central work. To her right is a work symbolizing the predetermined path. The number of eggs is invariably laid from the very beginning of life. On average, about 500 pieces.
On the left is black, a postscript of life. The same unchanging.
The work is done in mixed media using natural stone.
The texture of marble carries sacred meanings. The number of eggs is invariably laid from the very beginning of life. On average, about 500 pieces. The brightest and most intense part of our life is encoded in this work. During щгк life every day we experience hundreds of shades of emotions (colored marble) and before the grave (black marble). The texture of the stone shows us the laws of nature, their unpredictability and hardness in our life scenarios. In our destiny.
With this work, I would like to express the passing time and the finiteness of a woman's life. The need for the value of every time period.
The work encourages thinking about what is Free Will? Where is the line between predestination, irreversibility? Think about what we ourselves think about her finiteness, soreness and fragility. About missed opportunities and protecting yourself.
