My hometown is known for its exquisite mirror making and carpets. In this new work, I embraced the traditional technique and mixed it with my own artistic journey.
In this work, two foundations from traditional Iranian cultures converged, mirrors, and threads. Mirror edge sharpness and simple threads delicacy crossed paths and showed a contract between these two opposite elements; a delicate thread crossed a rigid and sharp mirror.
This work was made of 66 pieces of tiny mirrors, which are using for mirror mosaic techniques in Iranian-Islamic architecture. The size of each small part is 20cm in 20cm. The whole panel's dimension is 120cm in 200cm. Each line in each piece of the mirror has been sewed with cotton strings.
The work can be installed in various configurations as each piece joins the background with magnets; it is not necessary to stick to other parts.
