The passion
of Palmyra.
Interactive
dynamic light composition: installation “The passion of Palmyra”.
The installation
is an object composed with six openwork columns with mechanical capitals made
of corroded steel. Optical glass prisms are inserted into the mechanisms of the
capitals.
In the center of the
composition there is a sculpture, a bust – "The ceremonial portrait of Madame
Doom" made of colorless and black optical glass – somewhat anti-Nefertiti, the antipode of the image of
Aphrodite.
In Palmyra
(an ancient Semitic city, with a history dating back in the early second
millennium BC) during the period of 2015-2017 ISIL militants destroyed and
plundered many of the monuments of ancient culture that were not taken away by
the authorities. The monuments of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage were blown
up.
The composition
is conceived as a protest against the destruction and irretrievable loss of
cultural monuments as a result of conflicts and terrorist actions.
