This work belongs to my neonart series: Yesterday _ Now_ Tomorrow, 2020". It is a glasinstallation, a neon work from my handwriting originally done with a japanese brush with ink on paper.
The philosophical and existential dimension of Time has always been a important aspect of of my artistic practice. And this year I produced this work for an exhibition and participative art project in Munich: Let's talk abput time, in the Mucbook Clubhaus, the city centre of Munich. In 15 minute slots people could come to my "public" studio place in a former bank one on one and speak with the curator Dr. Annika Schoemann and me about time while I was working there on an installation.
Especially this year it is quite a challenge to understand what our "now" means. Do we have a notion of this very specific moment of time? The challenge it brings? When the neon isn't switched on, it is transparent and reveals a very delicate , almost fragile tone- whereas when it's turned on, it's red and powerful. That is the range of our "now".
This corona crises and many economic complex challanges remind me of the twenties of the last century.
