Like vanitases, this violin vase is an allegory of time passing by. It was created out of an ancient violin, that was cut and then restructured. It was rendered tight thanks to the inner stamping of aresin and to the closing of its F-holes. The breaks and the openings are enhanced with 22 carat goldthat got affixed with Japanese lacquers. An old gut string was left in place to draw a line up to thesky.
