MODULATOR SPHERE artifact
Was created in 2024, by combining two Platonic solids. It is a dodecahedron (gr.) composed of 12 regular pentagons and a hexahedron (gr.) divided into tetrahedrons.
The object comments on the very fabric of the cosmos, inspired not just by contemporary physics and cosmology, but by using Plato’s universal idea in a special way.
MODULATOR SPHERE with an integral musical component was created from the need to listen to music in the closed interior of the sculpture. The geometric solid, measuring 3.60 x 3.60 m, is constructed from sound-absorbing Eco-PET plates in cobalt color. It was created in the process of fusing a regular octahedron of equilateral pentagons with a cube divided into tetrahedrons. The modular form assembled on the principle of spatial puzzles has an internal frame made of steel profiles. For display purposes, the object can be suspended or placed on a dedicated rack. The solid is raised to a height of 150 cm from the floor. The lower pentagon is open and provides an opportunity to step inside and immerse yourself in the sounds of music. Subtle lighting allows one to contemplate the logic and harmony of the spherical structure. The aspect of light and shadow in the interior of the dome enhances the aesthetic and sensual experience.
