An Installation contrasting modern communication and a warning against the pollution of the oceans. Venice, to whom the sea has given her power and her beauty is threatened by the water.
New technologies make it possible that every second billions of messages, e-mails and video are send around the world. When we walk on a beach has become common to step on plastic bottles. But how tiny is the chance find a bottle with a message inside and how much smaller the chance that the message I entrust to the sea will be found? And will the letters be still visible?
This installation combines modern technology and traditional painting. It is a numeric computer print of a foto on light transparent tissue. But the foto does not show reality but art.. It is the foto of a small oil painting made by me. The motive is the sea, the raison d'être of Venice. The borders between art and reality are dissolved . It's a foto of art.
The work is suspended from the ceiling. The visitor can see it from all sides. Around it, on the ground, there will be sand and several bottles with unreadable messages will be lying there and create an atmosphere of mystery. What is their message? a warning against pollution?, a nostalgic hint of at ancient modes of communication or a homage to art and nature?
I hope that my message in the bottle will reach Venice!
