Mare Amaro
(mixed media, variable size, 5 works which conform the whole installation: 100x40x40cm each approximately 2016-18) _
Bitter is
the ocean’s roaring that protects itself facing the powerful lances.
Unavoidable
the art engagement with the current issues of global warming, the destructive
suction of raw material, massive fishing, pollution in all its forms and
consequences.
Unavoidable
the need of repair and rebuild, the apology we must give to that sensitive
nature that defends from lack of freedom.
We live in
a society of use, abuse and waste that doesn’t fade, where the gesture of
expulsion is usual, not only of objects but of values, an alarming
symptomatology in a fragile present.
This work
is a call for the contemporary ecology, where the capacity of creation
surpasses that of destruction and where traditional painting techniques leave
the canvas to invade the space and submerge the viewer. With residual materials
and found elements with strong symbolism like an oil barrel, a continent and
its content, the work support is built. It shapes the work and becomes the
hidden face of the saturate colour of the sea, making a strong suit of armour to
remain protected. From destruction to construction, a permeable work is built
considering the still not found balance between man and nature.
A thought and
a proposal.
Mare Amaro
are natural and social storms fragments, with the concepts of continent and
content, the strong solid and the fragile light. A volumetric work whose shadows
depict the latent past and whose reflections depict the uncertain future. Waste
and basic materials become elaboration guidelines of new techniques through regeneration
and repair, a language that looks for communicate the beauty dilemma and its
destruction through matter and space.
