Sasha is passionate about collecting the most emblematic pieces of the different periods of Ukrainian history: amulets, ornaments, badges, etc. She accumulates the multiple semantics of these objects and puts them together in an oval «face-like» shape. From there appears the figure of the mask in her work.
By fusing those traditional objects with contemporary emblems of consumption (plastique toys, loyalty cards, party items, etc) she emphasizes the fundamental conflict between individuality and the community forming its identity.
With this particular mask, she explores the subject of social media and the toxic, even religious feeling it provokes.
Fusing different materials like barbed wire, "likes" badges, crosses, fur, and flowers, Sasha recreates the ambiguity of our relationship towards social media. The way we speak to everyone and no one particularly reminds the way we speak to God. The feeling of pleasure brought by new likes and follows and yet the feeling of dependency and imprisonment is the dualism of virtual reality.
