In nature, resin are a solid or highly viscous substance secreted by plants in order to protect their parts from insects and pathogens. The liquid form of resin interacts with air and solidifies into a hard transparent form. I like to use epoxy resin as the main material to redefine the spirituality and strength of liquids. I have used silicone abrasive to cast objects from the size as large as a door made from resin bricks to objects as small as resin preserved flower buds. The solidification process of resin transforming from liquid to gelatin to solid, is somehow a metaphor of y own life situation. The pandemic that occurred in Wuhan, my hometown, and the current situation going on in Europe, there is an invisible bond that links everyone together, and although facing very different difficulties, the unspeakable emotion runs true. At time like this, making art combining a materials as fluid as resin to support and nourish the lush bu dried out blooms seems to be illogical, but in my opinion, it has the beauty of wabi-sabi aestheics and world view. Perhaps, this gives back resin the true form of its protective nature.
