IL BANDOLO, 2021
Sono tre i fili da tirare per dipanare il fitto groviglio, fulcro di questa composizione. Sono tutti contrassegnati in rosso, ma non vi sono indizi su quale sia quello giusto: il vero “bandolo” della matassa. Tirare quello sbagliato potrebbe stringere maggiormente i nodi, rendendo il compito ancora più arduo e forse impossibile.
Anche le vie da percorrere per risolvere i problemi della vita possono essere molteplici e la scelta non è mai facile. Infinita è la gamma di atteggiamenti che gli individui assumono di fronte alle decisioni difficili: da chi osa, giocando di istinto, a chi si ritrae, reagendo al dubbio con l’inazione. Il Tempo comunque, quasi sempre, sbriciola infine tutti i problemi.
Pur concepita per l’appensione a parete, l’opera rientra nella tipologia della scultura, tanto per la forte tridimensionalità, quanto per la libertà di andamento degli elementi. Le reti scure, che nella foto appaiono quasi complanari, sono invece fortemente angolate tra loro e i tre “bandoli” si librano in ogni direzione.
E’ la matassa di tubi ad assolvere alla funzione portante: seppure realizzata con materiale duttile, tramite l’intreccio, il contrasto e la stratificazione, sviluppa forza sufficiente a tenere in tiro l’intera composizione.
THE KEY, 2021
There are three threads to pull to unravel the dense tangle, the fulcrum of this composition. They are all marked in red, but there are no clues as to which is the right one: the real "tangle" of the skein. Pulling the wrong one could tighten the knots even more, making the task even more arduous and perhaps impossible.
There are many ways to solve life's problems, and the choice is never easy. The range of attitudes that individuals take when faced with difficult decisions is infinite: from those who dare, playing on instinct, to those who retreat, reacting to doubt with inaction. Time however, almost always, finally crumbles all problems.
Although conceived to be hung on the wall, the work falls into the typology of the sculpture, both for its strong three-dimensionality and for the freedom of movement of the elements. The dark nets, which in the photo appear almost coplanar, are instead strongly angled towards each other and the three "bands" hover in every direction.
It is the skein of tubes that performs the load-bearing function: although made of ductile material, through interweaving, contrast and stratification, it develops sufficient strength to hold the entire composition in place.
