The artist´s intention is to create discomfort by evoking shame and/or guilt by using an object generally associated with leisure time, the beach or holidays and connecting it to the suffering and death in the Mediterranean Sea.

The installation consists of

-    a steel bargain counter, sign "FREE"
-    2.119 packaged swimming rings
-    a childhood portrait of the artist & his brother at the Adriatic Sea

2.119 people are dead or missing on the Mediterranean Migration Route (as of Nov. 2018)
