A curator
Alya Hestanti embodies a project concept of a young artist with autism Markus Martinovitch.
A totally white single bedroom as a private space of a person: same white
furniture, objects, artifacts, but whatever you take a look at you can see a phrase
“I’M HERE. I’M WITH YOUâ€, which turns the room into a super protected cocoon of
security and care, away for the everyday loneliness that many of us face
nowadays.
The total
installation looks like a white cube 400x400x400cm from outside. This is a
white door leading inside. IKEA furniture inside.
The room
contains:
·
A
single bed with a duvet and a pillow
·
Table,
chairs, accessories
·
Sidebed
table, lamp
·
On
the walls – posters, paintings, a bookshelf with white books, a fake “windowâ€
with curtains
·
A
loud speaker with a female voice repeating the phrase “I’m here. I’m with youâ€
The outside
appearance of the room is a white cube, right like a classical exhibition
place, since all Markus’s life is connected to art. A small door leads into a
usual bedroom as it might seem at first. But as soon as you get inside, you
find yourself in a place of inner power. The place where you always come back
to feel secure, the place where you are never alone. The rooms itself as well
as all the objects are purely white, exactly like Markus’s pure vision,
existing away from regular human routine desires. Every surface in the room has
one and the same phrase, and it seems like the whole space cuddles you
whispering “I’m here. I’m with you†into your ear.
The
pictures attached are visualized drafts and references. The room with English phrases
has never been exhibited.
Most of the
phrases will be written by Markus personally, but on textile and some other objects
the curator will use prints.
