Fuseaux-mélées is a set of fragrant works composed of braided fabrics. Wrapped around wooden sticks, shimmering tablecloths of fabric envelop lavender flowers, giving rise to fragrant poles of varying sizes, tortuous and colorful.
The artist wishes to refer to a traditional object from Provence; The spindles lavender. Developed by mothers from the 18th century, these handicrafts help protect linens from parasites. The stems of the plant are tied with linen ribbons into long braids which contain the fragrant petals. During Roman Antiquity, lavender was already used to cleanse, hence its etymology from the Latin "lavare" meaning "to wash". Magical, medicinal and decorative power, it was given a protective and purifying power over the body and the mind.
Wishing to shape his love for Provence and Thailand, the artist mixes lavender from his father's garden with fabric from his mother's country of origin, and thus rests two worlds that have built his identity. A new imagination is taking shape. These two materials, which symbolize its interbreeding, hybridize to form unique and personal objects, imbued with different traditions.
Tactile and olfactory installations, the Fuseaux-Mêlées must be kneaded, pressed between our fingers, so that the fragrance emerges. From then on, a carnal relationship unfolds in front of these bloated, sometimes imposing totems. Through their Provençal scents and bright colors, the works reveal a part of the artist's personal mythology.
