"Flame" is carved from Robinia wood, which is weatherproof. The sculpture may be placed open air.
I watched the flames showing up when starting a fire and photographed it again and again. Using the photos I tried to draw those forms and later to imagine one form representing all this constantly changing vivid appearance of flames. The process of carving then was improvising and reacting to the structures of the material, the way I usually work keeping in mind this imagination of flame.
