This porcelain sculpture, “Falling in love”, belongs to the series "The Great Heart of Women". I started out creating them during the years of my stay in Dubai, with the intention of highlighting feminine features in an ironic way, and transmitting the thought that even if we have our hair standing on end, due to stress and upsetting situations, it is important to maintain positive thoughts and behavior, cultivating one’s affections.
The great heart of women is the leitmotif that guides me, the big heart that sometimes is the double-edged sword that can hurt us, but it cannot be silenced.
My challenge was to talk about gender equality, a theme dear to me, presenting it with the lightness I am looking for, and seeing as how making ceramics is very fascinating but very heavy, the symbolic and material research led me to porcelain.
The heart also represents the mediator between the hand and the mind, consequently, the apparent fragility becomes a strength.
