The “Fake Blonde” series speaks about the futility industry, in critical terms regarding the intellectual void, but also as a warning to the environmental impact that the entire “cosmetics” industry causes, in its more extensive variables.
Through promotion by almost limitless means, the various players create narratives of ideal beauty, disseminated massively through social media by equally futile influencers.
Annually 120 billion packages are produced for the "beauty" industry. If we add the pollution caused by the production processes, energy consumption, raw material, and the ecological footprint of the distribution, we realize that we are facing worrying numbers. The current situation is not sustainable at all. Despite the efforts of some brands to environmentally optimize their products, the consumption is massive, representing, only China, a market of 35 billion dollars, with a growth of 20% per year. Consumer awareness of this problem can and should be also made through art, education, and the promotion of knowledge and culture, as opposed to ignorance and the superficiality of appearances.
