Mars Exploring
My art is influenced by various aspects
such as nature, environment, Geography and topography. It consists of paintings,
drawings, sculptures and installation. One can identify in the works different
forms related to botanic and cartography. My drawings, for example, have
repetitious forms, like an embroidery pattern that spreads and expands, while
its general look brings up the association of an organic shape, a climbing
plant or a fossil. In the large wall assemblage – 'Mars exploring' the shredded
parts of the canvas are stained by rust layers, that brings to mind, geographic
maps and uncharted territories. Through my art I aim to merge and combine
various worlds, and my technique, respectively, is varied and extends from
laborious crafts to spontaneous actions. The actions of experiment and play, dismantling
and assembling, create a new body that seeks to undermine reality and raise
questions on its significance and feasibility.
The colors of rust and the
amorphous shape and stains are what create the sense of how i envision Mars. The
accumulation of the reddish colors - the stains of time is accompanied also by hand embroidery of stitched in the shape of the letter X with
blue thread. The blue thread is a symbol to the "human fabric" and my
hope of tying the past to the present, and connecting Mars to earth and its
people in near future.
