Unique work today, but reproducible in larger format (very small series).
The materials here are olive wood with beech wood. I imagined this creation as the improbable deformation of extremely hard (and beautiful) wood under heavy pressure. The olive tree is for the Provencal that I am the alpha and omega of life in the south. Its extreme symbolic weight, the quality of its wood, its hardness and density, the marvelous designs of its colored fibers, its exceptional softness to the touch make it THE material to sculpt. And as in addition I am a peasant, creator and cultivator of olive trees, everything is better explained.
The esquichade, in all its forms (from the Provençal verb "esquicher", which means to tighten, to crush), is one of the originalities of my work, I currently decline this process with more than 20 different projects to come ...
