This artwork deals with the discomfort experienced of those who live in-between world (cultural, linguistic, etc.). The in-between, is of course a posture of discomfort, brightness but also a space where the passenger of the worlds is subjected to violence.Implicitly, this horned ceramic self-portrait posed on a breakthrough of lush greenery reminds me that the other is also myself. Like many, I live in a duality between dream world / real world, hellish vision / heavenly vision, feeling of belonging / feeling of not belonging. This work belongs to a series that crystallizes, this fragile moment like ceramic or the ferryman of the world that I am (Afro-descendant, Caribbean, French and immigrant to Canada) tears the veil of a society made up of a multitude of closed worlds. Is it the ferryman who is contaminated or is it him who contaminates during the passage?
