What is it to be a “black” man? what is the definition of the word black? What cloud of concepts and notions does it hide? What sensitive loading does it carry? this work does not answer any of these questions, but attempts to highlight the conflict between the semantic load of the word and its sensitive charge. The latest version of this work is made of 365 black springbok's horns , cast in ceramic. The circle is a poetic calendar and each horn is for a day of the year. Each horn also symbolizes the awareness that each day I cannot escape the fact that my body is not neutral in my occidental society. The springboks poeticizes a strategy of run away resistance. Like the springboks, my ancestors used to run away to resist slavery in the sugar cane plantations of the Caribbean. Today I am still resisting, but to racism. In the middle of this wheel that never seems to stop turning... does my face full of horns mean that I will be condemned to flee racism forever? Society puts constant pressure on my body and this is a fact, not an opinion.
