power of action
Fusing
the ethereal quality of light with the materiality of paint and form,
l use light,
as both medium and a time reference. We wake and sleep to the rhythm
of time and light. It is the basis of existence. Directing routine
and our daily rituals. Time
is a constant yet not an infinite resource. Exploring the value of
time within everyday context, l use an act of spontaneity to
acknowledge action and decision. Capturing this moment in the
present, enables it to be extended into the future, to become part
of the past. Highlighting the fragility of our presence, while
archiving existence. Acknowledging
time is not an infinite resource, instead however, a precious
commodity to be cherished.
"Taking inspiration from Olafur Eliasson and Minik Rosing 'Ice Watch' works (Copenhagen 2014 and London 2018) the ephemeral act of spontaneous mark making becomes past, in our future, when archived in paint. The mark, identifies our present actions and speaks to their potential longevity. Time is a constant yet not an infinite resource. Our actions today impact beyond our now.
