Inspired by the complexities of sexuality, my work questions identity and transitioning, like the crystals, organically grow over weeks, that create geode formations of their own. The piece is modelled by a transsexual man/woman ‘Eliad’, identifying as a man and a woman. His/her physical pain of transitioning and the abuse of society has made Eliad a powerful, complex human being who is undoubtedly themselves. The sculpture is made from Jesmonite moulds, and crystals grown directly onto the piece of sodium borate. The quest for identity and its intricacies are the main focus of my work.
