A drought is a period of time when an area or region experiences below-normal precipitation.
The lack of adequate precipitation, either rain or snow, can cause reduced soil moisture or groundwater,
diminished stream flow, crop damage, and a general water shortage.
Drought | National Geographic Society (2015)
A dreadful drought gripped South Africa from 2015-2018.
Dams were empty, reservoirs depleted and no relief in sight.
The city of Cape Town came very close to the reality of Day Zero - no water.
Water was rationed to 50l per person, per day.
This installation serves as a reminder of the sound and beauty of a curtain of rain.
