This artwork presents
a profound reflection on the epidemic using the technique of magical realism. A
man, holding a trident, kidnaps a woman. He has the head and wings of a bat,
which, rather than symbolizing the primal host of a virus, represents human
desires. The helpless woman signifies humanity being controlled by desires. The
bat-human carries the woman forward, with his body tilting and his foot resting
on a toppled clock, giving a sense of imminent collapse. This represents the
precarious situation of humanity in the midst of an epidemic.
