This sculpture symbolizes the notion of time
linking the past and the future .the proportions of the plan were developed
according to the Aztec calendar and the graphics of an electronic clock
chip.each small shiny square corresponds to the day of the calendar which are
linked together by common threads which form weeks represented by resistance
modules .these modules are grouped together by large or small week portions
depending on the number of days in the month .the 52-week cycle corresponds
graphically to the 52-year cycle of the Aztec calendar, itself represented by
bouquets of reeds visually close to the modules. the wire that comes out of
these modules is attached to a rectangle which corresponds to the month. In the
center are the cardinal points, the seasons and the face which represents the
year. The shape of the sculpture is like an electronic module. All the
inscriptions of the months of the years were codified with a cyber writing that
I had developed; this writing was the result of a synthesis between primitive
writing and the graphics of a printed circuit board. When the sculpture is in
position, it attracts the viewer with its engraved black granite face, inlaid
with 22 carra gold leaf and silver leaf which has oxidized over time. The
sculpture gives the impression of being transported from the present moment to
the origins of civilization .the light that emerges from the sides makes you
want to discover the back; this part is made up of the first printed circuit board
which is made translucent by internal lighting giving the vision of a city seen
from an airplane at night.1 and a half years were necessary to complete this
work, including a trip to Mexico to the amtropology museum where the Aztec
calendar is exhibited and I had developed my writing code 1 year before,
requiring hundreds of hours of work.I very rarely exhibited this sculpture in
France due to logistics.
