Although used materials and man-made objects cannot be returned to their natural state, an interpretation of their living counterparts can be achieved: this piece resembles a bird mid-flight.
I wanted to show that not only can materials be restored but that the idea of a living being can be preserved through art. Part of my goal as an artist who holds fast to the use of used and forgotten things is to bring these objects back to life.
Thus, images and representations of life, such as a bird in flight made from wood that has preserved grains and characteristics of a living tree, pull the viewer into the concept that there is still value in material items.
