Concept
I was stuck in a grim phase of my life where I was besieged by a sea of constantly changing emotions that I fought to gain a semblance of control over. My mind was riddled with doubt about things that I have been practicing and I struggled to understand and recognize them as my own. This persistent attack on my mental and emotional state began to take toil and I felt fatigued and disheartened.
After much time passed, something finally snapped and I decided I had to release all that was built-up within me. I spread out the largest canvas roll I could find and began attacking it in earnest. I flung colors, slashed out lines and threw shapes onto the canvas. Five, ten, fifteen meters and I kept going. I was in a trance. Gradually, the intensity of my assault abated and the forms and colors on the canvas mellowed. Twenty five meters and Catharsis was created.
The experience was like the rain after a sandstorm β all the debris is washed away leaving the sky blue and the air pure. Catharsis was the torrent I unleashed to clear the turmoil within me. The confusion and despair was gone and a new βmeβ was born.
