The object tries to capture how Buddhism and in particular the asceticism of meditation practice resonates with and is transformed within the salvific philosophy and psychology of Christianity. I tried to express my sense about this by combining simplicity of form and natural materials to capture presence in meditation and placing it in the evocative image of the figure placed (nailed to) wood. The wooden piece than becomes part of the figure as the act becomes part of being. I also tried to use the smallest number of elements and detail possible. Other features are added along similar associative lines.
