In portrait painting, a chest piece is a cutout that goes up to the chest. The chest, however, is seldom seen bared. There is also a brisket for a poultry roast.
In this work I am serving breast pieces on cardboard. It's consumption and homage at the same time. Also a statement against censorship. A bare-chested man is publicly tolerated to this day. However, women's nipples are considered offensive, and breastfeeding in public is also often rejected. Why actually?
For a long time I myself had a very divided relationship with my chest. I learned from my mother that large breasts are not beautiful. It took me into my 30s to accept myself and my breasts and even to integrate them into my artistic work. I also think that the artistic exploration helped.
The series features strange chest pieces, friends and self-portraits.
