The sculpture was created for the solo exhibition ”Dancing Axis of the Fifth Dimension” which is dedicated to new urban sculptures. This is a unique proposal for the development of public art in Moscow. It explores the production of urban space with the objective of enriching the image of the city.
The main idea and purpose of the exhibition is the artist’s desire to show the possibility, and even the necessity, of a bright urban sculpture in Moscow.
Over the past year, I have been searching for new shapes, while simultaneously exploring the city for prospective sculpture locations. Moscow has changed significantly in the last five years. New public spaces have emerged in the city, including locations on the streets, which are potential sights for public art. This has inspired me to devote an exhibition to sculpture.
The sculptures represent beings coming to us from the fifth dimension. In contrast to their world, where they are not bound by laws of physics, once they are here in our dimension these beings freeze in various states and configurations. Their ability to transform and change colour stop and they become images of themselves, turning into sculpture.
At the same time, sculpture is an independent object and can be exhibited outside the context of the exhibition theme.
