My cushions
mixed together
I divert fabrics, from the most sober to the most
colorful and sophisticated, that I find during my travels, I find in the popular
markets of the four corners of the world to use them as canvases to paint. And,
it is even inside these textile-supports that I take advantage of their spaces,
their different shapes and materials to install my trademark, my knotted or
untied cushions.
I then integrate a universe consisting of several
materials (braids, lace, embroidery, beads, sequins, plastic cords, ribbons) in
which I give an imaginary path, performing a repetitive back and forth between
different techniques like dyeing, painting, sewing, knitting and braiding.
The use of knots is a braiding technique that allows
different materials to bind together. Coming from many ancient civilizations,
this universal knot creates links and round trips between the proposed supports
of wool to cotton, rope to ribbon, plastic cords to metal, film to digital
images.
