The Andalusian origin of the artist is also palpable in the extensive use of white raffia. Fabrics, either explicitly or metaphorically, play a fundamental role in Paloma’s work. On the one hand, her sculptural pieces range from various types of floral and abstract lace to wrinkled and even flaky garments. That is, they are literally strung with textile patterns that emphasise the corporeal character of their network of ceramic tiles, creating an epidermis in a constant process of regeneration.
