In 2017 Houston-based sculptor Lourdes Torgersen starts a new series of bronze sculptures that are displayed as a group. Each individual sculpture adds to the collective theme. Classified as “Archeological Finds” these pieces all seem to gravitate toward natural elements, static objects that simulate discoveries of old moments in History. The design of the sculptures was sleek and modern. During the foundry process, the bronze decided for itself to “move” in different ways. After a careful excavation process Lourdes Torgersen delicately chips away the rests of the mold from her sculptures she, like an archaeologist, reveals the final piece. “The artist flags up the idea, the medium responds and the discussion begins.”
