Apocrypha
Series of four books (45x35 cm
each). Installation 200x60x60 cm
The installation “Apocrypha”
is composed of a series of four artist’s books, carefully set down on fabric
treated with gold leaf. The sculptures of paper, cardboard, muslin, and gypsum
have a close relationship with handwriting and sound. By re-elaborating the
etymological suggestions peculiar to Greek term apókryphos (‘occult,
secret’), the artist enters into the meandering journey wherein signing and
writing, warp and weft, both veil and yet disclose something about ourselves. In a play of cross-references, the
graphemes slip from the level of aesthetic perception towards cognition, and
then on towards patterns of spiritual intuition, that enchant the observer’s
perspective. Sound accelerates this process, enveloping the visitor, and
marking their itinerary.
Moreover, the writing -as sign, geometry, space, as
brief appearance or absolute protagonist of the installation’s space- represents
an urgent return to the indistinct ground of matter and light.
Apocrifi
Serie
di quattro libri (cm 45x35x10 ciascuno). Installazione

L'installazione
tessuto trattato a foglia oro.
suggestioni etimologiche proprie dell’etimo greco apókryphos ‘occulto,
scrittura come segno, geometria, spazio, come fugace comparsa o assoluta
protagonista dello spazio installativo, rappresenta un urgente ritorno a un
originario indistinto di materia e di luce.
