Anthill
Goethe defines
Nature as “the only artist”. Francesca Rossello’s artwork starts from a
profound and dedicated observation of Nature: in this case, an anthill in her
garden.
Ants live in
colonies that have a hierarchical society where labor is strictly organized.
They are social animals like humans. Ants speak through a language
incomprehensible to us. They write and create codes on the ground invisible to
our eyes.
Francesca analyses
the structure of an anthill: a network which connects, like metro stations,
different cells and chambers. Francesca creates a mold from a piece of wood
graven by carpenter ants and prints on fabric. Through this operation she is
able to show to all what we do not see, what is invisible to our eyes and
neglected.
