This artists’ book “About Me” was with the theme of stereotype. “Stereotype” refers to a fixed, widely held and oversimplified idea of a certain group of person or thing, and the appearance of stereotype is often clichés. Many people criticize it since they think it always leads to prejudice and narrowness, but they don’t know that the way to recognize others by labeling them is an efficient brain strategy for saving cognitive resources, and thereby they ignore the fact that stereotypes can loosen or even disintegrate, in certain circumstances. I use my work to present the way how our understanding of a person can vary with the change of perspective of seeing this person.
